Massive Cruelty-Free Makeup Haul!

I pillaged IMATS Sydney 2013 and I thought you might like to see what cruelty-free products I bought. I’ll be using all of these products in coming tutorials on Youtube, so don’t forget to subscribe to my cruelty-free channel by *clicking here*.
This is a photo heavy post, I’m not reviewing these products but I will give a little opinion on each. I’m going to start with the products I bought from Ben Nye.

Ben Nye Luxury Banana Powder

Ben Nye Luxury Banana Powder

This finely milled setting powder wears beautifully, I’ve really enjoyed using it.

The lovely people at the Ben Nye stand gave me these two palettes of their HD foundation as a little gift. Such a gorgeous creamy foundation that looks natural and beautiful when I applied. I’ve also been using the darker shades to contour my face.

Ben Nye Foundation Palettes

Ben Nye Creme Contour

Ben Nye Creme Contour

I really love cream blush and I couldn’t resist this one. It’s a gorgeous coral colour that looks flattering on all skin tones. Also, it’s extremely pigmented so I’ve been using it sparingly which means this bad boy is going to last me a long time.

Ben Nye Lumiere Grande Colour Palette

Ben Nye Lumiere Grande Colour Palette

How great does this palette look? 12 amazing, highly pigmented eyeshadows all packaged up in a sweet little tin. The Lumiere Grande Colour Palette comes with a brush (as pictured) and all the colours can be used either dry or mixed with water to create an intense paint.

Ultimate F/X Palette

Ultimate F/X Palette

This special fx palette is just phenomenal! I love that it contains every colour I could need all housed in one palette. No more stuffing about with colour wheels. I’ll be using this in all my Halloween tutorials as well as for any and all special fx projects. This is my favourite buy from IMATS, hand down.

Next up, we’ll look at the products I got from Make Up Store, I had so much fun at that stall and pretty much had to be dragged away!

Make Up Store Skin Serum

Make Up Store Skin Serum

The Make Up Store Skin Serum is basically a primer that has some lovely skin soothing ingredients in it. I’ve been using it every day since getting it and I love the staying power it gives my foundation.

Make Up Store Eyeshadow in Zone

Make Up Store Microshadow in Zone

I picked up this Microshadow by Make Up Store in the colour ‘Zone’. It’s a gorgeous khaki/olive green with soft gold micro reflective pigments. Absolutely beautiful to blend, this eyeshadow applies true to colour and wears flawlessly for 13 + hours.

I am in LOVE with the ice-cold metal packaging these lipsticks come housed in. Beautiful and butter-soft to apply, Make Up Store lipsticks wear extremely well, are highly pigmented and contain lip soothing ingredients such as avocado oil, jojoba and shea butter.

Glitter Eyeliner in 'Choco Lux'

Make Up Store Eyeliner in Czar

Make Up Store Eyeliner in Czar

This beautiful glitter eyeliner is the most gorgeous warm, chocolatey colour. It has a very fine applicator tip that makes it a breeze to apply a very fine line. I found this eyeliner dried to a comfortable soft powder-like finish and lasted until I washed it off.

The metallic eyeliner by Make Up Store in Czar is such a lovely product. I’ve personally found this pencil to be neither soft nor hard. It has plenty of slip, is extremely pigmented and doesn’t transfer, smudge or run!

I picked up another cream blush, this time by MehronMehron produce high-quality theatrical makeup, but there is plenty of makeup in their range that is perfect for everyday use.

Creme Blush in Geranium

Mehron Cheek Cream in Geranium

Geranium is the perfect pink. Extremely pigmented, this cream blush is easy to apply and blends beautifully for a naturally flushed and pretty look.

I love glitter, but not all glitters are made equal. I like to wear it on my eyes so naturally it is extremely important for the glitter that I use to be free of glass or metals. Most glitter comes with a very VERY tiny disclaimer that reads ‘Not to be used near eyes’. Even Lime Crime’s glitters have this warning, though you have to search with a magnifying glass to find it. Finally i have found a range of glitter that is amazing and free from anything that could scratch your eyeball. LASplash produce high quality glitters that are designed to be used on your eyes, they are free from metal and glass and are made from a soft film that doesn’t irritate or scratch.

LASplash Glitter Eyeshadow and Splashproof Eyeshadow Base. Colours from left to right. Renaissance, Tangerine and Rock Star.

LASplash Glitter Eyeshadow and Splashproof Eyeshadow Base. Colours from left to right. Renaissance, golden Tangerine and Rock Star.

I grabbed three different glitters along with the Splashproof Sealer. The Sealer is what actually makes the glitter adhere to the skin. Traditionally you would apply a thin layer of latex to the skin to make the glitter stick, but this sealer is far more comfortable and the glitter is so fine and beautiful that is doesn’t feel heavy or cakey at all. I’ll be buying everything from the LASplash range!

I visited the Makeup and Glow stand and picked myself up this airbrush foundation pack by Elementwo

Canvas Blend Airbrush Makeup

Airbrush foundation has a completely different formulation to regular liquid or cream foundation, I love how amazingly natural it looks and the staying power is out of this world. You don’t need an airbrush to use this foundation, I’ll show you how to use it without a machine in a Youtube tutorial very soon.

Kryolan are another leading theatrical makeup company with such a beautiful range of products. I wanted everything but settled on a lip stain.

Kryolan Lip Stain in Jazz

Kryolan Lip Stain in Jazz

Jazz is a beautiful baby pink colour. These stains really last, I applied a thin layer and it stayed true for close to 8 hours without a touch-up.

I also bought myself a Beauty Blender. I’ve never liked using makeup sponges, I find them daggy and serious product wasters. The Beauty Blender is absolutely fantastic however and I restocked as soon as I could find them at IMATS. They make your foundation look flawless and are also fantastic for applying cream blush and blending out contour products.

Beauty Blender in Black

Lastly, I bought a tonne of false eyelashes from Model Rock.

So many eyelashes!

So many eyelashes!

Model Rock do beautiful eyelashes that last a long time. I’ve found I easily get upwards of 20 wears out of each pair. The top left lashes are so cute!

That my friends, is my cruelty-free makeup haul!
Until next time.

How to apply mascara without smudging (or stabbing). Top and bottom lashes.

Hello gorgeous kids! This is the first installment of my new little series of videos called ‘How do you do that?’, inspired by the torrential amount of makeup questions I get bombarded with whenever I go anywhere. Nearly all questions I’m asked start with, ‘Oh I really like your eyeliner, how do you do that?’ or ‘Your foundation is flawless, my foundation always makes my face hair stand out, how do you stop that?’… You get the picture. Dig my video, and if you haven’t already, now might be a good time to subscribe to my channel, it’s free and helps little old me out alot!

Do you have any questions you would like answered? Thank you for watching my loves!

The Essential Makeup Brushes You Should Have in Your Kit

Oh so many makeup brushes to choose from but where to start?! This post is dedicated to helping you navigate your way through the makeup brush jungle. The brushes I list will make the perfect base for your makeup kit and enable you to recreate every look in the makeup universe. Of course, all the brushes are cruelty-free and from ethical companies. I’m personally averse to using any makeup brushes made from natural fibre, that is, animal hair. Time and again I’ve heard people explain that the animals aren’t killed, the hair is just ‘harvested’ or is a result of the natural moulting process. The problem is that the animals that are kept for these purposes are nearly always caged and kept in inhumane, cruel conditions. Plus, you can’t tell me that the goats or ponies actually WANT to be shaved? Seriously. There’s no need for animal hair. If you were to stand the makeup that I recreate with synthetic brushes next to the makeup created with animal hair brushes you would not be able to tell the difference. If you were given high quality animal hair brushes and high quality synthetic brushes to apply your makeup and you were asked to tell them apart, I bet you wouldn’t notice the difference either (except for some brushes made from goat hair actually smell like goat).  Dig the video and read on!

Buffing Brush- I recommend having one of these bad boys, there are so many different uses for them, *click here* to watch my tutorial on the different ways you can use a buffing brush.

Powder Brush- Self explanatory really, and a very basic brush but you need one! Have at least one large powder brush and one smaller one, the large is perfect for bronzing and applying face powder whilst smaller ones are great for blush and highlighter.

Angled Powder Brush (Contour Brush)- Perfect for, well, contouring! In the video I explain why it’s good to start with a regular angled powder brush and work your way up to Illamasqua’s Blush Up Brush. *Click here* to watch my video on Illamasqua’s amazing Blush Up Brush.

Kabuki Brush- I use a retractable kabuki brush by EcoTools. These little guys are fantastic in a million different ways, have one in your kit!

Fan Brush- Aside from looking really cool, fan brushes are great for many different reasons. I use them to contour client’s foreheads if they have a large forehead, for highlighting cheekbones, for lightly dusting face powder… I could go on and on, make sure you have one of these. *Click here* to watch my video on the fan brush.

Eyeshadow Brush- It would be ideal to have at least 2 eyeshadow brushes, one quite large (and even a bit fluffy) and one that’s smaller and flat with firmly packed bristles. You can never have too many eyeshadow brushes though, so feel free to collect like a crazy person.

Eyeshadow Blending Brush- The perfect blended out eyeshadow just isn’t possible without this brush. I own approximately one billion of these blending brushes. You could definitely get by with just one! EcoTools Airbrush Concealer brush makes for an amazing blending brush, and of course, Illamasqua do a top notch one as well.

Angled Eyeliner/Eyebrow Brush- From eyeliner to lipliner, from creating gorgeous cut-creases to defined eyebrows, this brush is the ultimate multitasker! It can be a challenge finding the perfect one, Illamasqua and EcoTools both do an amazing angled brush! *Click here* to watch my video on the angled brush, I’ll explain what I look for when buying one.

Tapered Eyeshadow Brush- In the video you’ll see that I show the ‘Smudge & Define’ brush by EcoTools. Perfect for all your smudging or defining needs, it also works beautifully as a lip brush, eyebrow brush and easily applies highlighter to hard to reach places (like your inner eyes). This is also essential to creating a cut-crease style eyeshadow. Have one of these brushes handy.

Lip Brush- A very small eyeshadow brush will do, I use an el-cheapo one by Natio and it does the trick! You don’t need lipliner if you neatly apply your lipstick and this brush will ensure you do that. The tapered eyeshadow brush I mention above is great as a lip brush.

Brow Comb/Lash Comb Duo Brush- This is a very basic brush, comb out clumps in mascara, comb your eyebrows, neaten your eyelashes, you get the picture. If you find one of these with a metal comb, never let go! Metal brow combs are the best!

Sponge Tip Applicators- There are a tonne of different uses for these, neaten up your eye makeup, use them to apply lipstick, use them for cream eyeshadow or to highlight and define underneath your eyebrows, I’m positive you’ll find an array of different ways to use them. Buy in bulk.

Cotton Tips- I carry these around in my purse just in case I get something in my eye, I’ll need to fish that something out but I’d be loathe to ruin my eye makeup! These are also great for tidying up any makeup boo boos and for making sure the wing on you winged eyeliner is even.

Pencil Sharpener- Hands down the best pencil sharpener I’ve ever come across is the one that Eye of Horus makes! I call it the Mary Poppins of pencil sharpeners. It perfectly sharpens all pencils regardless of size. I wouldn’t be without this sharpener now! Try it for yourself, use code “Review” at checkout when you buy anything from Eye of Horus and receive 15% off your total purchase price (yay!).

Beauty & Makeup Tutorial: One look featuring the classic red lip

Who doesn’t love red lipstick? It can be the difference between feeling good and feeling super-humanly good in a Wonder Woman kind of way.

Wonder Woman as she appeared in the 2009 anima...

In this video I’ll demonstrate one of my favourite ways to wear red lipstick. This look is perfect for daytime wear or you could amp it up with some false lashes for a night out. As always I’m only using the highest quality, cruelty-free makeup in existence. Stay tuned till the end where I do something a little bit different (I sort of, kind of forgot to film an ending so to make up for that major oversight I’ll give you a sneak peek of my tattoos).

All New Eye of Horus! Review & Makeup Tutorial. Come get a peek at their not-yet-released Sheba Mystical Goddess Palette in action!

Aloha sweet beauty fiends. I have more absolutely gorgeous Eye of Horus products to review for you! Like my last review (click here to watch my last Eye of Horus review if you haven’t seen it), I’ll also be doing a little tutorial with the products so you can see them in action. To get your Eye of Horus collection started use the code “Review” at checkout and receive 15% off! How great is that?  Dig the video then read on for more details and makeup tricks for getting the most out of these beautiful cosmetics.

Aside from being head over heels for Eye of Horus, I’m not affiliated with them in any way. In the interests of full disclosure I was gifted these products, all opinions are my own however.Ok, clearly I think Eye of Horus is the cat’s meow. If you own any of their range you’ll know why I go on and on about them. Let’s start with their ethical mantra:

Our products are not tested on animals and we deliver only the best. All our cosmetics are Paraben Free, and contain as much natural content as possible, balancing organics with the highest effectiveness we are renowned for. We pride ourselves on fast delivery and a high level of customer service.

I’d like to add here that their customer service is exceptional, with free shipping within Australia! Who doesn’t love free shipping? All of their products are paraben-free, cruelty-free and all kinds of wonderful.
Sheba Mystical Goddess Palette- I’m pretty sure this palette hasn’t been released yet! You’re getting a sneak peek at a truly versatile product. Each colour in this palette, like in their Isis Sun Goddess palette, can be we used wet or dry. Each shadow has true colour payoff and won’t crease, fade, flake or transfer. The shadows are finely milled, super silky to apply and blend effortlessly. Tips for getting the most use out of this product:

  • Use ‘Royal Abyss’ (the magnificent plum colour) wet. It really brings out this unbelievable metallic sheen. Use it as a coloured liner!
  • Layer ‘Enchantress’ over lipstick for a magnificent pout (I’ve been doing this just about every day and it never fails to bring in compliments).
  • ‘Artefact’ makes the perfect transitional shade when doing smoky-eyes. I also love using it in the crease when doing a fairly neutral eye to add soft definition.
  • This palette, like the Isis Sun Goddess Palette, is refillable. So if you run out of a colour you can simply pop another colour pan in!

Nubian Brown Goddess Pencil $30au- This pencil is a gorgeous dark brown with a matte/velvet finish. What I really noticed about this pencil was how creamy and rich it felt on application, I experienced absolutely no tugging or pulling which would make this ideal for sensitive eyes. This pencil is waterproof, smudge-proof and long wearing. I found it removes very easily too, no rubbing or scrubbing necessary. Tips for getting the most use out of this product:

  • Use the sponge tip on the opposite end to blend this pencil out into a gorgeous earthy brown eyeshadow.
  • Layer any of the Eye of Horus eye-shadows on top of this pencil for a dynamic finish (Royal Abyss looks particularly amazing over the top).
  • Use this pencil to define your eyebrows.
  • Smudge all over your eye for the perfect smoky-eye base.

Teal Malachite Pencil $30au- This pencil is something else! Creamy, rich and smooth to apply, it imparts the most amazing glowing teal colour. With a satin finish to die for, this pencil delivers the deliverables. If you’re not into coloured pencils, this one will change your mind. It looks so luxe and jewel like on the skin that it completely side-steps the dangerous pitfall that can be coloured eye pencils (we’ve all seen it, coloured eye pencil that looks chalky and dry). Tips for getting the most use out of this product:

  • Blend out for a beautiful eyeshadow, or use it as an eye-shadow base.
  • Use it in the inner corners of your eyes (like in the video) and let the compliments roll on in.
  • Do a brown smoky-eye but leave the bottom lid clean and just smudge the teal pencil underneath, brown and blue are best friends and look amazing worn together.
  • Instead of using black or white, line the water rim of your eye with teal malachite for a subtle difference.

Sultry Serpentine Goddess Pencil $30au- This is one dynamic pencil. The colour is a fusion of dark olive, green and gold with a gorgeous satin finish. Perfect for all skin tones, this pencil is the business for creating smouldering eye looks and applies creamily and effortlessly (in true Eye of Horus fashion). This has been on high rotation in my makeup kit, I love how blue it makes my eyes appear. Tips for getting the most use out of this product:

  • Blend out the pencil to create a gorgeous earthy eyeshadow.
  • Use it as a base underneath any of the Eye of Horus eye-shadows to create unique and beautiful new colours (this looks particularly gorgeous with Sacred Husk from their Isis Sun Goddess Palette layered over the top)

.All in all, Eye of Horus should be on your list of products to try if you aren’t already hooked! Do you use Eye of Horus? What different ways do you use their products? I’m a massive fan of using their eye-shadows wet. Let me know if you enjoyed this video and review and what you’d like to see in future posts.

Makeup Review & Smokey Eye Tutorial with Sleek Makeup. Showstoppers Palette, Lip 4 Quad & Face Form Kit. I’ve got your makeup kit sorted!

Hello lovelies! I’ve gotten a few delicious makeup goodies from Sleek and I thought I’d review them for you and integrate a mini tutorial on purple smokey eyes as well! An excellent site you can get a good beauty fix from is Makeup and Glow. They have amazing customer service and lightning fast shipping along with very competitive prices, I bought these products from their site (I’ve bought a tonne of products from them and am always really pleased by how lovely their service is). Dig the video then read on (or just dig the video!)

i Divine ‘Showstoppers’ Palette- A collection of the most popular eyeshadows from their palette range. What impressed me most about this palette was how pigmented each colour is, the payoff is amazing! Each shadow is finely milled, no gritty-ness, just smooth long-lasting colour that stays true and doesn’t crease or fade!

Lip 4 Palette in ‘Siren’– Described by Sleek : “Got a hot date? Get loved up with Lip 4 in Siren, a coral hued palette for ultra kissable lips in Love Me, Desire Me, Miss Me and Kiss Me in matte, gloss and satin finishes for lips so sweet he won’t be able to resist!” This palette is so cute! I had a really hard time deciding which palette I wanted, they’re all so beautiful. The colour payoff is excellent, these lipsticks don’t bleed or do that ugly lip waterline thing I hate so much. Perfect for blending and for those of you who love ombre! I’ve been lightly dabbing them on with my finger to create a beautiful lip-stain as well, such a gorgeous and versatile product.

Face Form in ‘Fair’- Described by Sleek: “Face Form is the ultimate contouring compact and definitive accessory for nailing that chiselled supermodel look. Bound in a luxurious handbag-friendly palette, complete with a mirror for on-the-go application, each shade variant contains different products to suit specific skin tones” This palette is generously sized and amazing quality! The contour colour is perfect and can be built up for a more dramatic look or used lightly for a natural contour (perfect for daytime). The contour, highlighter and blush blend beautifully and seamlessly, if you love the look of contour but don’t know what colour you should buy, definitely try this palette! The highlighter is the perfect shade, it reflects back a warm, glowing cream/rose/ivory colour (does that make sense? It’s the perfect colour for highlighting, that’s all anybody needs to know!).

To have a look at the Eye of Horus products I use to define my eyes and eyelashes click here. I’ve done a review on their amazing products as well. No makeup kit is complete without Eye of Horus!
